Funky Pelican - Flagler, Beach
The Funky Pelican - Flagler Beach Florida
This stop was a recommendation from 2 Californian friends who just moved to Florida. They like to visit the restaurant for its ocean views, the bloody mary’s and relaxing atmosphere. We stopped here on our way back from NASA to see what it was all about.
Flagler Beach is definitely one of those local beach towns on the coast of Florida. It has just 4-5 restaurants, and a few gift shops, but the vibe of the area is that it is a local’s town. The Pelican sits right on the beach next to the city pier and has large indoor and outdoor seating areas. The front of the restaurant has a large chalk board where you can add your thoughts and artwork. We sat on the back deck and enjoyed the waves crashing in. Tom ordered “today’s catch” with rice and the Minorcan Clam Chowder. I had Maddie’s Shrimp & Grits which consisted of blackened shrimp, Maddie’s grits, Cajun Cream Sauce with mushrooms and tomatoes. This was a great dish which I would highly recommend if you go there. If you are in the area, this is worth a stop but come early as it seemed to fill up fast. Really a fun little area along A1A.
