Hanger Kitchen & Bar

Out again and went to one of our favorites, Hanger Kitchen and Bar. which opened back in 2020 right before the start of the pandemic. This restaurant sits at the corner of McKnight and Manchester in Rock Hill and is locally owned. It's a larger space - both inside and outside. They redid the inside with some cool barrell seats and an aluminum bar which looks like it's made from an airplane. The bar area is also very nice and bright with lots of seating. They have a great cocktail menu and many craft beers and wine as well.

The menu is more of a small plate tapas style which invites sharing which we always enjoy.   As we have been here several times, here are some of our favorites.

We have tried two of their Sushi rolls and both are very good with a light variance from traditional rolls.  The Surf n’Turf with the crab, avocado, asparagus, carpaccio and volcano sauce was great ,however  just as good or not better was their Crab Rangoon Roll which is tempura fried with lump crab, cream cheese and a sweet chili sauce.   As much as I like crab rangoon regularly, this was a great option.  They do however have regular crab rangoon, and even these are made in house and very good. We also tried the Pork Belly Tacos which come 3 to a serving and the combination of the pork belly, tomato jam, fried onions, volcano sauce and arugula not only made a great presentation but was also a good combination of sweet and spicy.  All of their taco combinations are worth a try.

I think we have tried at least ½ of the sharables - Carne Asada Fries, Lobster Mac n Cheese, Seared Scallops and Rock Hill Meatballs.   None of which disappoint and there are several others we still want to try.   However on this trip we went back to the Deviled Eggs & Billionaire’s bacon.   These are great and come in a serving of 6 halves which is definitely splittable, and the presentation is nice however the whole slice of bacon across all the eggs makes it a little difficult to eat.   But believe me, it didn’t stop us from finishing them quickly.

Hanger still remains on our “favorites” list.
