Sushi Station
When we are in the mood for Sushi, which is a lot of the time, our favorite is definitely Sushi Station in Webster Groves, Missouri. Sushi is one of those restaurants where you want it to be a busy place so the seafood is fresh as possible. We have had a few other sushi places that we liked a lot - Tani in Clayton was one - but they have closed. Sushi Station was actually a recommendation from our son and once we went, it has been our go to ever since. This review is from 2 separate visits and what we enjoyed there.
The first visit we tried the Takoyaki which is a grilled octopus fritter. This was fabulous! Moist ball with octopus in the middle, fried and with a lite teriyaki sauce. Our rolls this time were the Crunchy Spicy Tuna Roll and the Sexy Girl. The tuna roll was a new one for us and we really liked the eel sauce on top and the crunch of the tuna. The Sexy Girl is one we have gotten several times and this one not only tastes great with the mango, tempura shrimp, asparagus, crunch and masago, it looks beautiful as well! And of course Tom got his 2 pieces of white tuna negeri which was very fresh.
On our second visit we had the spring rolls as an appetizer. We have ordered these before and they are house made and very crisp with fresh veggies inside and served with a sweet & sour sauce. The rolls we chose were the Old Webster and the White House. Old Webster has salmon, tuna, yellow tail, asparagus, avocado, sprouts and takuan. The White House roll has fried calamari, avocado, masago, white tuna, wasabi mayo and eel sauce. Although I prefer smaller rolls, you can see from the picture how fresh and full the Old Webster roll is.
There are many rolls to choose from at Sushi Station which makes it great and something for everyone. There are also lots of starters, soups, and many specialty dishes which I keep saying we need to try but somehow rolls always win out. The inside of the restaurant is quaint and there is some seating out front and a patio out back. We have never had a hard time getting a seat, but also tend to go way before the dinner crowd comes. You might want to do the same.
I hope you try and enjoy Sushi Station as much as we do.
